Kasumi meaning "mist" takes its name from the smoky and nutty tasting profile of this matcha where the strong Yame tea leaves are roasted at a higher temperature.
Its nuttier warmth and subtle smokiness give it a grounded, almost toasty depth that doesn’t get lost in a latte. Drunk as usucha, those same notes soften but stay present, unfolding as a rich, earthy greenness with a gentle, lingering smokiness that feels both comforting and bold.
Kasumi hails from a southern region of Japan known as Fukuoka where it is grown amidst the misty mountain air. It is made up of the Yabukita cultivar which generally is well-balanced between umami, sweetness astringency and bitterness. This particularly variety is unique due to the terroir and production process which contribute to a particularly nutty and umami flavour. It also has a wonderful appearance.

I'm not a big Hojicha drinker, so I was pleasantly surprised by this when I tasted it. The flavour is bold, but very smooth and warming. Since receiving my pack, I've been having it daily and have really enjoyed this as an evening drink (as I tend to drink Matcha only in the early part of the day). Really pleased with it.
I have tried a lot of Matcha brands and this one is one of my favourite!!
