From living in Thailand and Japan, I had grown used to the diversity, complexity and richness of matcha. It was normal for me to encounter matcha tea masters who were producing the most incredible varieties of matcha. Matcha which could be floral, nutty, rich, vegetal, smoky or sweet. I was in love with the beautiful, delicate flavours of high quality matcha.

Then I came to the UK and I realised there was a different story being told about matcha....

Matcha was being sold as a generic product, sweeteners and syrups were seen as essential additions and the quality was being rapidly downgraded. Even the colour of matcha was more of a dull brownish green than the bright, vibrant green I knew.

I realised there was a problem...

Each matcha has its own unique taste, its own benefits and own pairings.

And if the UK is going to drink matcha this is the true story which must be told. That is why we will be releasing a series of matcha blends centred around the uniqueness of each variety. Starting with the 'Hana' Blend named for its floral undertones, we will be releasing matcha which is nutty, smoky, rich, sweet and umami so you can enjoy high quality in all its varieties.
